Von Alexander recently released his highly anticipated EP, MAYHEM1993 and he definitely did not disappoint!

 

This is the Milwaukee rapper's 2nd EP since re-branding himself in late 2015 and dropping his stage name Vonny Del Fresco to go by his government, Von Alexander.

While Von’s 2015 EP, "V O N" was an introduction to the real Von Alexander, MAYHEM1993 reveals a more unfiltered side of the 23 year old rapper, as he tells the story of his experiences growing up in the MKE and how it lead to where he is now. From being homeless and sleeping in shelters to spending his last dollars on his dreams, Von used his struggles to power his drive and he is not stopping anytime soon. Von Alexander’s relentlessness and continued out pour of quality content have proven to be the keys behind his success.

 

MAYHEM1993’s strongest points are Von’s refined story telling skills and matured style of delivery. ‘Hard To Tell' and ‘Jungle’ allow listeners a more in depth look inside of Von’s struggles with lines like, "I remember sleeping in the shelters / homeless / I remember days when my pain wasn’t noticed / these were the days that I’ll never get to cope with / I remember days when my lens wasn’t focused…”. Whereas, 'Came Up' & ‘Keys’ are proof that Von Alexander is a lyrical architect and he has just started to build him empire.

 

Another strong point for MAYHEM1993 is the production. Von brought back all star producer Derelle Rideout, along with a plethora of other top notch producers including Krs., DMND and Water.Lo, just to name a few - who have truly helped him to create a style all his own.  Tracks like, “Advantage” and “Glory“ are perfectly tailored to fit Von’s melodic voice, while “Keys” takes us back to early 90’s hip hop, with Von spitting like a young Canibus.
